Glowing Heart – Aoife O’Donovan
Model – Allison Reid
I know I have already created one of Aoife O’Donovan’s songs, but the lyrics and music to “Glowing Heart” are so haunting and so mysterious, I had to create an image. Since the song is fairly new to me, I am still trying to figure out exactly what it’s all about and I like to imagine that she thinks of her lover as an owl in the night. “…later on when I got home, I found an owl’s feather in my hand.”
She said some things she wish she hadn’t and he flies away. She is searching for him, wondering where he is, but can’t find him. She wonders if he is off with someone else asking “…where is your mouth – are you hungry for some candy?” I picture her searching in the night, in the forest, so that is the feeling I hoped to capture in this image.
When I am out shooting these images, and later, when I get home, remove them from my camera and create them on my computer, I get to enter the world of that song. For that time, I am in that world. It’s a way of putting myself in my imagination. Who wouldn’t want to do that? I hope my models feel the same way. When a song inspires me the way this one did, I can’t wait to just step into that place. How do you escape?
